Pompey Sports & Education Foundation, in association with the head and neck team and NHS nurses, promoted mouth cancer month in the Victory Bar before last month’s game against Leicester.
They also offered free checks for supporters before the Championship clash.
Health trainer Paul Allen said: “We saw around 20 fans and the feedback we received was excellent with supporters wanting this service available on a monthly basis.”
November was Mouth Cancer Awareness Month and the head and neck team at Queen Alexandra Hospital promoted this with the help of Portsmouth Football Club and Blues legend Alan Knight.
Vanessa Young, Macmillan head and neck clinical nurse specialist, said: “Having the support of Portsmouth Football Club has had a significant impact in raising awareness of mouth cancer and we would really like to thank the club for that.”
