Erik Huseklepp will take the plaudits after netting twice in Pompey’s 3-0 win at Peterborough.
But Jason Pearce believes it was a fine team display that saw the Blues win on the road for just the second time this season.
The defender netted Pompey’s second at London Road with a firm header from Liam Lawrence’s corner.
But Pearce wants the credit to be shared among everyone that pulled on a red-and-black shirt.
He said: “It was a great team performance. We knew what we had to do and everyone showed great commitment.
“It was a great result and we needed it. Erik got two and I was delighted to get on the scoresheet as well.
“I’ve been working hard in training at getting in at the front post and I’ve scored a good goal. I was desperate to get on the end of it.
“I think everyone saw from my celebration that I didn’t really know what I was doing! I’m delighted for myself, but more importantly for the team.
“Everyone was brilliant. Stephen Henderson didn’t have to do too much and that’s a credit to the whole team.
“We’re all delighted and I don’t want to pick anyone out because everyone had a great game.
“The performance showed how together we all are, but now we have to push on and build on this result.”
Pearce also praised the Pompey fans, who totally out-sang the home support and were rewarded with a fine display from their heroes.
He said: “The support was superb. I didn’t expect that many to come and they were brilliant throughout the game – as they have been for the whole season.
“We haven’t given them too much to cheer about away from home, but performances like that make the journey worthwhile.”
