Michael Appleton today urged all Pompey fans to get behind the club in its hour of need.

The Blues have teamed up with fan groups in a bid to fill Fratton Park for the next two home games against Hull and Ipswich.

All money generated will go straight towards the day-to-day running of the club as it fights to protect its future.

Appleton, Pompey’s 31st manager in a proud 114-year history crowned by two top-flight titles and two FA Cup wins, said: “I think it’s important at times like this that we stand united for the sake of this great club.

“Supporters, staff, players and coaches – we are all in this together, feeling the same emotions and working for the same outcome.

“Come along to Fratton Park, buy a ticket, buy a programme – whatever you can do, however big or small, it will all matter.

“With your support we will get through this and emerge the other side stronger than ever.”

The Blues are averaging gates of around 14,500 for league games at Fratton Park, which has a capacity of 21,000.

Pompey Supporters Trust spokesman Scott McLachlan said: “The Trust urge fans to get down to Fratton Park for these two games and help support the club and Michael Appleton’s team.

“When Fratton Park is full and rocking there is no better place to be and we are sure that Pompey fans will rally round the club in its hour of need. Play up Pompey!”

The Blues host Hull in the Championship on Saturday, February 4, kick-off 3pm.

Ipswich are at Fratton Park for a Championship fixture on Tuesday, February 14, kick-off 7.45pm.

The Hull game is a special Four For £44 match, which means a family of four can attend for just £44 (two adults, two children). Additionally, season tickets holders can bring a junior to the match for just £2.

Both offers are subject to availability and for tickets that are bought in advance.

Otherwise tickets for both games are £25 for adults, £20 senior/young person and £13 juniors in all areas, apart from the Family Enclosure where seats are £25, £15 and £10.

Tickets are available online here, by phone on 0844 847 1898 or in person at the Frogmore Road ticket office.
