Police in Portsmouth are investigating after thieves broke into a storage container at Fratton Park and stole around £1,235 worth of kit belonging to the club’s Academy department.
The burglary took place on Monday night (September 5) at around 9.40pm and the thieves took six team kit bags, one set of Kappa kit from the 2010/11 season (size YXXXL), 29 junior Kappa padded jackets and 25 pairs of junior Kappa training shorts.
Portsmouth Football Club is asking for anyone with any information regarding the theft to contact the police on 0845 045 4545 or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Derek Stone, Pompey’s stadium manager, said: “The theft took place after all of the Academy’s new kit had been assembled to give out this week.
“Unfortunately we have now been unable to do this which has left our young Academy players disappointed and upset.
“We would appeal to anyone who has any information, or who is offered cheap Pompey gear, to get in contact with the police and help us to bring the people behind this to justice.”
