For the second time in seven days Pompey Academy came from behind to secure a convincing victory.

Last week’s goalscoring hero Ryan Williams – who grabbed a hat-trick against Pathos Sports – bagged a brace, while Ashley Harris (pictured) also found the net against the Hampshire League Cup holders.

Patrick Antelmi had an early opportunity for Pompey after some good work by Ryan Williams but Liphook keeper Andy Ewan made a comfortable save.

At the other end Sam Magri was twice forced into defensive action, making timely headers to deny Stewart Green and Mark Richards.

Chances were proving to be few and far between but it was the hosts who took the lead midway through the first half when Paul Marshall converted Green’s corner with a thumping header.

Liphook could have had a second soon after but Leigh Keddle’s shot was comfortably saved by Matt Gledhill after a neat move involving Green and Richards.

Lewis Stockford went close to drawing Pompey level with a spectacular effort from 25 yards that dipped narrowly over the crossbar.

Williams then forced a save from Ewan after running from the halfway line, before Stockford was denied by some last-ditch defending.

Half Time: Liphook 1 Pompey 0

Pompey pushed forward straight from kick-off and Stockford missed a fantastic chance before Chinedu Vine fired wide.

But WILLIAMS did find the target on 55 minutes, driving the ball home after playing a neat one-two with Billy Tsovolos.

Liphook soon had a chance to retake the lead, though, as Steve Harding sent a looping header inches over.

But the Blues were soon back on the attack and Williams saw his shot crash against the underside of the crossbar.

HARRIS did find the target midway through the second half with a floated shot that struck the post on its way into the net.

He then almost grabbed a second, heading the ball down on the halfway line and embarking on a surging run before firing narrowly wide.

WILLIAMS did make sure of the victory on 84 minutes with a deflected shot that floated over the top of Ewan and into the net.
