Paul Smalley’s side were held for the first time in pre-season when they made the short trip to Moneyfield’s Dover Road on Tuesday evening.
After racing into a 3-1 lead midway through the second half, Pompey must have thought a fifth consecutive victory was on the cards.
Goals from Ryan Williams (2) and Carl Walshe (pictured) had given the Blues a seemingly unassailable lead – but the Copnor-based side had other ideas.
And two goals in the last 15 minutes – the last coming right at the death – saw Moneyfields snatch a draw.
WILLIAMS gave Pompey the lead after just 10 minutes when he turned and beat Dave Hook with a shot that was too strong for the Moneyfields keeper.
But on the half-hour mark Ousmane Drame equalised with an equally rasping effort after finding space in the Blues defence.
However, just before the interval WILLIAMS again tormented the hosts’ back-line as he raced through to restore Pompey’s lead.
And when WALSHE struck a third shortly after half-time, Pompey’s 100 per cent pre-season record looked like being maintained.
But Gavin Jones reduced the deficit on 75 minutes and with seconds remaining Jamie Hore grabbed the equaliser.
