Two second-half goals from Lewis Stockford (pictured) capped a Pompey comeback in Eastleigh.
Not for the first time in their unbeaten pre-season programme, the Blues shrugged off an indifferent first half to transform matters after the interval.
Bournemouth had caught Pompey out with two well executed goals in the opening 45 minutes.
The visitors had been the more vibrant of the sides without troubling Blues keeper Matt Gledhill, although his opposite number Ed Turney was equally unemployed for the first half hour.
But the game changed when Danny Ings latched onto Jordan Chieodzie’s incisive pass and slipped the ball past Gledhill on 35 minutes.
Pompey nearly levelled a minute later but Bournemouth survived as James Seeley’s audacious effort beat Turney but came back off the crossbar.
Ryan Williams looked certain to head home the rebound but was unable to divert the high bouncing ball into the net.
Bournemouth doubled their advantage just before the interval when Danny Jilks got in behind the Blues defence to score.
There was still time for Pompey to go close again, though, with Turney keeping out Stockford’s shot with his feet.
The hosts kept their foot on the pedal after the break and reduced the deficit 10 minutes into the second half.
STOCKFORD was brought down in the box by Ryan Chase and picked himself up to stroke home the spot-kick.
And Pompey were level soon after when a free-kick into the box was knocked back by Dan Bennett for STOCKFORD to convert from close range.
Most of the play was now going towards Bournemouth’s goal but Paul Smalley’s side were unable to find a late winner.
