Player Appearance Policy
Over the past couple of seasons, Pompey have been inundated with requests for player appearances.
Requests are categorised as:
- Community (schools, charities, fetes, local clubs, etc)
- Commercial partners
- Supporters’ clubs
In order to improve how we respond to these requests, we would ask you to take the following into consideration:
- Only requests via the designated website request form, letters or emails will be considered. NO VERBAL REQUESTS WILL BE CONSIDERED.
- Email requests should be sent to players@pompeyfc.co.uk
- Six week’s notice is required (exceptions may be made depending on the event)
- Particular attention will be kept to repeat requests
- Requests will be assessed according to strict criteria regarding player availability
- No appearances will be considered on matchdays, the day preceding a match and travel days. There will be no appearances on players’ days off, before 2pm on a training day, international breaks and pre-season
- If an event has to be rescheduled and the original player can no longer attend, then an alternative player will be provided
- A player committee made up of senior squad members will meet on a fortnightly basis to discuss requests
- Translation/language issues will be taken into consideration, as will the location of the event
- Contact will be made with the event organiser and a brief prepared regarding the purpose of the appearance, time spent at the venue and to ensure that the appearance serves to complement the event
If any requests fall outside of the above criteria then you will be sent a response explaining why the request has been denied.
