Norris: Keep Ticking Them Off

Keeper hoping for another big performance at Peterborough

14 March 2024

It is now 11 games unbeaten for Pompey since their Fratton Park humbling by Leyton Orient in the middle of January.

And Will Norris wants to see them continue edging closer to securing a League One automatic promotion spot.

The keeper knows there is still room to improvement and was disappointed that they let Burton back into the contest during a midweek home victory.

Norris reached the play-offs while on loan with Peterborough last season and will now go back to London Road with the Blues this weekend.

He said: “We need to be able to kill games off and Burton on Tuesday could have been a harsh lesson for us.

“But it’s another one ticked off and there are eight games to go – eight big performances and we’ll be up there.

"It’s a big week for us and we’ve collected four points so far, so we’ll be trying our best to end it on a positive note."

“We’ve got Peterborough next and they’re a dynamic team who play good football, so we’ll have to play well.

“They’ve got excellent forward players who are full of goals and assists, are organised and have a manager who’s got them in decent shape.

“We always say that you have to play everyone twice, with different styles and different pitches, so you have to find a way to win.

“It’s a big week for us and we’ve collected four points so far, so we’ll be trying our best to end it on a positive note.”

Norris is part of a Pompey back-line that have conceded just 32 League One goals so far this season – the best record in the division.

He said: “I’m really pleased with how the team are performing defensively at the moment, but it’s important we keep our focus to maintain that.”
