LINGANZI: A WINNING MENTALITY

28 February 2017

Midfielder hoping for Morecambe joy

Pompey are starting to find some form at a crucial stage of the season.

They have dropped just two points from the past four games and won 3-0 against promotion rivals Carlisle on Saturday.

Amine Linganzi opened his goal account for the club at Brunton Park with a long-range rocket into the bottom corner.

And the midfielder hopes the Blues will be able to celebrate collecting more points when they host Morecambe tonight.

He said: “I’m happy with the goal, but the most important thing was the win, which we worked really hard for.

“I had the opportunity to pass to Eoin Doyle, but I was getting close to the box and just thought I would take the chance to shoot.

“We’ve got a winning mentality now and hopefully we can carry that on against Morecambe.

“The atmosphere around the club and the training ground is really good, and I believe we will go up.

“We’ve got two home games in a row and the appetite is to win both of them. We’ve got the hunger to do that.

“We had a good chat as a team a few weeks ago about how we could improve because we all know that we’ve got quality here.

“We spend a lot of time together off the pitch and you can see the fruits of that with our recent results.”

Linganzi arrived at Fratton Park back in August and has enjoyed his time on the south coast.

He said: “It was tough when my family were in France, but I have my faith and work every day to bring some positivity into my life.

“I learned to be patient – which is key in whatever job you do. Now my family have settled here and I can feel that this city is really special.

“That’s important because when you’re happy off the pitch, it helps you to perform on it.”
