MATCH PREVIEW: BARNET v POMPEY

17 February 2017

All you need to know about League Two clash

It has been a profitable week for Pompey, with successive home victories against Accrington and Blackpool.

Now they will look to end it in style by securing another three-point haul at Barnet on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

But the home side will want to impress their new manager Kevin Nugent, who was brought in to replace Martin Allen on Wednesday.

Tom Champion scored the only goal as the Bees triumphed away at 10-man Morecambe earlier in the week.

That brought to an end a five-match winless run, which saw just one point collected from three home fixtures.

It leaves the Londoners sitting 11th in the League Two table, although they are only three points adrift of the final play-off place.

That is despite having tasted victory on only four occasions at The Hive – in all competitions – this season.

And Pompey will be looking for an outcome similar to what happened at Fratton Park back in September, when Conor Chaplin, Gary Roberts, Carl Baker, Milan Lalkovic and Danny Rose all found the target in a 5-1 rout.

TEAM NEWS
Curtis Main (knee) is still sidelined for Pompey, while Gareth Evans should be available after injuring his shoulder against Blackpool.

Stanley Aborah will not be handed a Blues bow, having been restricted to just 52 minutes of action since mid-November.

Barnet winger Simeon Akinola has completed a three-match ban, but the hosts are without Shaun Batt (leg), Michael Gash (knee), James Pearson (knee), Jamie Stevens (calf) and Jack Taylor (hernia).
