TOLLITT: WE'RE READY

27 July 2016

Winger excited about new season

The waiting is almost over.

On August 6, Pompey will run out at Fratton Park to face Carlisle on the opening day of the 2016/17 League Two season.

After a few gruelling weeks of training, the squad should be in tip-top condition ahead of a demanding campaign.

And Ben Tollitt knows that it will soon be time for the Blues to put friendlies behind them and concentrate on competitive action again.

He said: “We’ve been working on fitness for the past few weeks, with plenty of double sessions.

“Now it’s just about making sure you know your jobs and doing some fine-tuning for the start of the season.

“I’m looking forward to that first game at home in just over a week – everyone’s excited about it.

“There have been more season tickets sold than last year, which is incredible. I’m sure Fratton will be bouncing.”

Tollitt impressed in a 4-1 victory at Bognor in the penultimate friendly and won a second half penalty that Michael Smith converted.

He said: “It was good to get 90 minutes under my belt, the lads played well and it’s always nice to get the win.

“I started at the tip of the diamond in midfield and was given a licence to roam to wherever I felt I could hurt them the most.

“I thought I did that job quite well in both halves and enjoyed running at the defenders when I found some space.”
