Striker pleased with goal from his 'weaker foot'
It was as sweetly-struck a shot as you could hope to see.
But Conor Chaplin’s late leveller against Barnet at The Hive was scored with his weaker right foot.
That cancelled out Mauro Vilhete’s free-kick and ensured the Blues secured a point to extend their unbeaten run to three matches.
And Chaplin was pleased that the 2,430 travelling fans – who made up more than half the total attendance – had something to cheer.
The striker told Pompey PlayerHD: “I know I hit it well – it felt nice as it came off my boot.
“But I didn’t see the ball travel because I fell as I struck it and there was also a defender in front of me. I just knew that it went in because I heard the crowd.
“The fans were ridiculous. We had more than the home side and I would have hated to send them home unhappy.
“It was on my weaker foot, but I still fancy myself with the right foot. Thankfully it came off and it got us a point.
“We do a lot of work on the training pitch with Robbie Blake and Leam Richardson, and we’re always practising with both feet.
“I scored a goal at the end, although it still feels a bit disappointing because I thought that the three points were there to take for us.
“But the lads have to try to be upbeat because we’ve still taken seven out of nine in the past week.”
