Former Blues player at Orient game
Australia-based former Pompey midfielder Peter Denyer was a welcome visitor to Fratton Park on Saturday for the game against Leyton Orient.
Denyer played for the Blues between 1974 and 1979, making 129 league appearances and scoring 15 goals – including a memorable late winner at the Fratton End from long-range against Hereford in October 1978.

Now living in Sydney, Denyer is Master of Football at the King’s School, Parramatta and is planning to bring a side to England next year to play some fixtures.
He is currently paying a flying visit to the UK with wife Wendy to see friends and family in his hometown of Haslemere in Surrey, as well as taking in a game at his old club.
Peter said: “It was like being welcomed home as a long lost son. I was warmly greeted into the boardroom by chairman Iain McInnes and meeting ex-players from my era, Mick Mellows and Alan Knight, as well as my former youth team coach Ray Crawford, topped the day off perfectly.
“I remember my playing days at Pompey as a wonderful experience which helped shape me into the person I am today.”
In November last year, Denyer was guest of honour at a meeting of the Pompey Down Under members living in New South Wales.
