JAMAL'S DEBUT DELIGHT

16 January 2017

Lowe thrilled to make Blues bow

He got a taste of Fratton Park action against Leyton Orient on Saturday.

But now Jamal Lowe has set his sights even higher and is looking to open his goalscoring account as soon as possible.

The January signing played the second half of a 2-1 victory over the Londoners after Gareth Evans was withdrawn with an ankle problem.

And the man who was in such prolific form for Hampton & Richmond in the first half of the campaign enjoyed the opportunity to impress his new fans.

Lowe said: “I’ve been waiting a while – but it was well worth the wait. It was great to get out on the pitch.

“It’s nice to feel welcomed by the supporters and know that they’re glad to see me here. I heard them cheering even when I went out to warm up.

“The coaches came out at half-time and told me to get ready, which was a bit of a surprise, but I was buzzing.

“I’ve never played in a stadium as big as Fratton Park or in front of so many fans before, so it was an amazing feeling.

“To score at the Fratton End would be a complete joke, so that’s got to be my aim now!”

Lowe knows he might have to wait for his first Pompey start, but hopes he can continue to impress in the coming weeks.

The 22-year-old said: “You can’t expect the gaffer to change a winning side too much, so I just have to work hard and wait for my chance.

“Hopefully I’ll be able to get into the side at some point, though, and I just want to get as many appearances and as many goals as I can to help the team go up.

“That’s what all the boys want, though – we’ve all got the same target and are all pushing in the same direction.”

Glad To Make My Debut Today @officialpompey & Get 3 Points! Thank You For All The Support, Fans Were Unreal 🔥🔥🔥
