Midfielder extends Fratton stay
Ben Close has signed a new one-year Pompey deal, with the club holding an option for a further 12 months.
The 20-year-old midfielder has made 27 appearances since graduating from the Blues’ academy.
He played four times in cup games last season and spent the second half of the campaign on loan at National League side Eastleigh.
Close said: “I’m extremely happy to have signed a new deal to remain at Fratton Park.
“Now I’m ready to work hard and really kick on next season to try to nail down a starting place for Pompey.
“Hopefully this will be the year when I can get a regular run of games in the side. That’s what I’m looking to do."
