Revamped Family Section opens on Saturday
Pompey mascot Nelson will be on hand tomorrow to open the doors to the club’s new Family Zone.
The old Family Section has been revamped over the summer, with significant investment made into decorating the area, improving signage and lighting, and adding baby change facilities.
Fans who are eligible to sit in Nelson’s Family Zone will enjoy an enhanced matchday experience, with more interaction from Nelson and some of the playing squad, as well as matchday entertainment and regular competitions.
The food and drink kiosk in the family zone will also be offering a number of healthier options for kids this season, including free fruit kindly supplied by the Tesco Extra Fratton store.
There will also be special meal deals on offer, priced at £5, which include a small cheese roll, orange juice, crisps, yoghurt and a piece of fruit.
Club director John Kimbell, who has been overseeing the project, said: “We’re a community club and we felt it was time to improve the matchday experience and facilities within our family zone.
“It has been a real team effort over the summer with PFC, the PST, PitC, Pompey Ladies, Tesco, EA SPORTS and club catering partner Centerplate all coming together to make the changes needed.
“We’re confident fans in the Family Zone will appreciate the changes that have been made and we will continue to improve facilities over the season based on people’s feedback.”
