POMPEY SUPPORT BLOOD DRIVE

10 January 2017

Make a resolution to save lives

Pompey are backing the NHS Blood and Transplant winter campaign this month – urging fans to give blood.

Brandon Haunstrup, the club’s health ambassador, took time out from training to endorse the campaign and show off the t-shirts the players wore while warming up for the last home game against Luton.

There were also announcements on the PA, an article in the programme and a big screen presentation, as well as social media activity – which will continue through the month – to back the initiative.

Nadine Eaton, head of marketing at NHS Blood and Transplant, said: “It’s New Year and many of us will be thinking about the year ahead – maybe looking to cut down on drinking, eating healthier or are considering joining a gym?

“However, this January, we are asking the nation to consider that what you give, could be more important than what you give up.

“With less than three per cent of the eligible population actively giving blood, we are asking people to make a resolution that makes you feel amazing and saves lives.

“Just one hour of your time could save or improve the lives of up to three people.

“NHS Blood and Transplant need new donors to come forward to provide the right mix of blood to match patients’ needs and replace those who can’t donate any more.

“Help ensure that patients in the future have access to the blood they need, when they need it.”

Do something amazing. Become a new blood donor.
