LADIES SUFFER HEAVY DEFEAT

30 April 2017

Palace hit seven past Blues

Pompey suffered a second successive heavy defeat to Crystal Palace in the space of a fortnight, as they went down 7-0 at Beckenham.

The hosts took the lead after just nine minutes and conceded twice in first half stoppage-time to trail by four goals at the break.

They improved following the interval, but the Eagles still managed to increase their scoring spree to notch a convincing victory.

Blues boss Jay Sadler said: “You can look at the result and it’s embarrassing – we shouldn’t be getting beaten 7-0 by any team in our league.

“There were a lot of things that didn’t go right for us, but there were still positive aspects of our performance.

“We played some fantastic football in the first 25 minutes and created some very good chances, but we didn’t have that spark in the final third.

“Heads dropped towards the end of the first half and at four goals down, we were left with a mountain to climb.

“We’ve got some big characters in our dressing room and we had a very honest chat because we allowed Crystal Palace to punish us.

“I speak every week about eliminating mistakes, so we need to reflect on the goals we’re conceding and look to put things right.”
