Pompey will start and end the 2016/17 campaign at Fratton Park.

Paul Cook’s side begin with a clash against Carlisle on Saturday, August 6, while Cheltenham will visit the south coast on Saturday, May 6.

The Blues head north to face Crewe on the second weekend before an arduous Tuesday night trek to Morecambe.

Hartlepool are the visitors for the final pre-Christmas fixture on Saturday, December 17 and Pompey then travel to Newport on Boxing Day.

They are also away to Yeovil on New Year’s Eve before hosting Luton in their first match on 2017 on Monday, January 2.

The Easter weekend sees the Blues at home to Plymouth on Saturday, April 15 and then go to Notts County two days later.

As well as the Morecambe clash, there are midweek trips to Blackpool (September 27) and Luton (November 22).

Meanwhile, there are Fratton matches under the lights against Blackpool (February 14), Morecambe (February 28) and Grimsby (March 14).
