Dominant Blues lose 2-1 at home
Academy coach Mikey Harris said: “The boys were brilliant, so it was incredibly frustrating that we lost the game.
The hosts were unable to take advantage of a number of scoring opportunities before the Cherries netted twice after the interval.
Pompey Academy suffered a 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth, despite dominating for long periods at Furze Lane.
“As it was, we could only score one goal, but it was a really composed finish from Sam on his debut.”
“We got our game going again, however, and could have won the game with just the chances created in the last 10 minutes.
“But the first goal affected our confidence and picked them up, while a defensive mix-up allowed them to score again on the counter-attack.
“The boys adapted really well and even though it was goalless at the break, we were confident going into the second half.
“With our naturally wide players out injured, we changed formation to a back three and mirrored what the first team have done on several occasions this season.
“It’s been the story of our season unfortunately – we just need to take those opportunities when they present themselves.
“We worked hard, looked good on the ball and dominated possession. There were plenty of chances created and we looked really bright. Bass; Nilsen (Scutt 76), Field, May; Davis, Rwakarambwe, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chaplin, Haunstrup (Granger 76); Sayers (Woodward 71), GillPompey:
