Horsburgh, Whatmough and Tarbuck on target

Pompey Academy cruised to a 3-0 victory over Leyton Orient at Furze Lane.

Lewis Horsburgh found the bottom corner from just inside the area to complete a fine team move and open the scoring after 30 minutes.

Jack Whatmough (pictured) then headed home from Bradley Tarbuck’s corner to double the Blues’ advantage after the break.

And Tarbuck fired home a 25-yard free-kick to complete the scoring after 80 minutes.

Academy coach Paul Hardyman said: “I’m really pleased with the performance from both an attacking and defensive perspective.

“We’d worked hard on our defending in training during the week and it obviously paid off because we kept another clean sheet.

“There were also three good goals scored. Jack’s was particularly pleasing because we had asked our players to be more aggressive in the box.

“The performance levels are back to where they should be, but the standard has been set and it’s important we keep it up.”
