Pompey Academy collected their first three-point hail of the season after beating Newport 5-2 in south Wales.

Calvin Davis then advanced from left-back and cut the ball back for Gill to complete the scoring.
And the same player soon netted again, heading in at the far post after Brandon Joseph-Buadi had broken free down the right and sent in a cross.
It was all Pompey in the second half, however, and Conor Chaplin restored their advantage, reacting quickly from a throw to smash the ball home.
But the scores were level at the interval after the hosts hit immediately hit back to level on each occasion.
“We spoke about being more solid through the middle of the park and playing in a more compact fashion to force Newport out wide.
