BARTON: OUR TARGET HASN'T CHANGED

5 February 2016

Midfielder interviewed in Saturday's programme

Pompey are currently six points shy of the automatic promotion places in League Two.

But Adam Barton has certainly not given up hope of them crashing the party.

The fifth-placed Blues still have to play a lot of the other high-fliers at Fratton Park before the end of the campaign.

And Barton wants them to convert their dominance into wins on a more regular basis.

“If we keep playing the way we have been, then I’m sure we’ll win plenty of games between now and the end of the season,” the midfielder says in the official matchday magazine for Saturday’s clash with Leyton Orient.

“There have only been a few matches where we’ve come off the pitch at the end thinking we could have done more.

“We’ve been the better team in the majority of them, so we need to make sure that continues to be the case.

“We need to go on a winning run and now we’re out of the FA Cup and have just got the league to focus on, we’re confident we can do what is needed to gain promotion.”

To read the full interview – where Barton also discusses his passion for music – pick up a copy of the matchday magazine from programme sellers around the ground on Saturday.

Also in issue 21, Danny Hollands dishes the dirt on his team-mates and Adam McGurk selects his dream team.

We take an in-depth look at Leyton Orient before delving into the archives to take a walk down memory lane.

There are also exclusive columns from chairman Iain McInnes, manager Paul Cook and skipper Michael Doyle.

All this and much, much more in a packed 84 pages is available for just £3.
