WEBSTER SIGNS NEW DEAL

19 June 2015

Two-year contract for defender

Adam Webster has signed a new two-year Pompey deal.

The 20-year-old defender, who is the longest-serving member of the first team squad, made 18 appearances last term.

He said: “I’m really happy to sign on the dotted line and excited for the new season – I can’t wait to get started now.

“Hopefully we can enjoy a successful campaign and get promoted and I want to be a part of that.

“I’ve been here for a few years now, so I want to be a regular in the side and help the club push on.

“The new gaffer seems like he knows what he wants and his record speaks for itself. I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Blues boss Paul Cook added: “We’re delighted that Adam has signed a new deal because he’s a talented young player.

“It’s great that we’ve home-grown guys like him, Jack Whatmough and Conor Chaplin in our squad and pushing for a place in the first team.

“It’s important for the fans – and for the progress of the club – that we have a strong youth set-up capable of developing these kind of players.”

Webster is a product of the Pompey academy, who made his debut in a Championship match against West Ham in January 2012.

The England under-19 international spent most of the 2013/14 campaign on loan at Aldershot and has scored three goals in 46 appearances for the Blues.
