AGYEMANG WINS ULTIMATE FINISH PRIZE

9 May 2014

Striker's Oxford goal wins public vote

Patrick Agyemang has won the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Ultimate Finish of the Season award.

The Pompey striker beat off competition from nine other players to claim the prize for his sensational strike against Oxford.

He came top of a public vote on the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy website, pipping Bristol City duo Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Joe Bryan, who finished second and third respectively.

Agyemang’s strike arrived in a southern second round tie at the Kassam Stadium and saw him produce a powerful run before finishing with the outside of his boot.

He said: “It was a fantastic feeling to win the second round prize, but to get the award for the whole season is extra special.

“All awards decided by supporters mean a lot and I’d like to thank all the fans who took the time to vote for me.

“I’m already looking forward to next season’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and hopefully we can have a strong run in the tournament.”

Ben Wilde, brand and sponsorship manager for Johnstone’s Paint, said: “Once again, the standard of goals in our Ultimate Finish competition was exceptionally high.

“Patrick was a very worthy winner because he showed great technique and imagination for the successful goal.”

Janet Hunter was the lucky supporter winner – claiming a PlayStation 4, FIFA 2014 game and controller – after being selected at random from all the fans who voted for Agyemang’s effort.
