CHAPLIN SIGNS NEW POMPEY DEAL

Teenager extends Blues contract

Conor Chaplin has signed a new three-year Pompey deal, keeping him at Fratton Park until the summer of 2018.

The academy graduate has scored four goals already this season, including a brace in the recent home triumph over Barnet.

He also grabbed the winner against Derby in August, as the Blues knocked their Championship opponents out of the Capital One Cup.

Chaplin said: “I’m delighted to have extended my contract – it’s probably the best thing that has happened to me.

“I’ve never made any secret of the fact that I want to play my football with Pompey and it means everything to know I will be here for another three years.

“I was always confident of scoring goals at this level, but I just never quite expected it to happen so quickly.

“Although I come from Worthing, I have been here since I was a small kid and know everything there is to know about the club.

“When the fans sing ‘He’s one of our own’ about me, I get goosebumps, as I really am Pompey through and through.”

Chaplin made his senior debut in a home defeat to Accrington last December and has played a total of 18 games for the Blues.
