DEVERA: HOME FORM KEY

19 September 2014

Defender interviewed in Wycombe programme

“We’ve shown a lot of character, like when we went down to 10 men against Cambridge and held on for the victory.

“We were unlucky against Newport when we were on top for most of the game, but came away with nothing,” he says in the official matchday magazine for Saturday’s clash. “Apart from that match, though, we’ve been really strong at home.

Now Devera wants a triumph over Wycombe this weekend to keep the impressive run going.

Newport are the only side who have departed the south coast victorious, with Peterborough, Cambridge, Northampton and Dagenham all beaten.

And Joe Devera insists that good home form is vital if the Blues want to win promotion from League Two.

Pompey have won four of their five matches at Fratton Park this season.

“I think that our home form will be key if we want to do well this season and we’re showing that it can be a really difficult place for other sides to come and play.”
