FUTSAL AND EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY

25 November 2014

Represent Pompey and continue your studies

The Football League Trust and Pompey in the Community (PitC) are offering Year 11 school leavers a unique opportunity.

A Futsal and Education Scholarship allows 16 and 17-year-old boys and girls to continue their education with a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and represent Pompey in the National Futsal League.

The two-year full-time scholarship is equivalent to up to three A-Levels, allowing access to university, and also offering coaching and refereeing qualifications.

The course consists of 12 hours per week of academic study at the Pompey Study Centre and eight hours per week of futsal training and fixtures.

This is the fifth year that Pompey in the Community have offered this unique opportunity.

Futsal is a five-a-side game, played on a hard surface with hockey sized goals and a size four football with reduced bounce. The matches are played over 40 minutes and to a stop-clock with time-outs allowed.

The game is officially recognised by UEFA and FIFA and is governed by the FA Futsal National League.

Futsal was played by world class players such as Lionel Messi, Xavi, Cesc Fabregas and Cristiano Ronaldo in their youth.

Our course is open to everyone and if you like football and want to continue your education, then the Futsal and Education Scholarship could be for you.

Want to know more? PitC are hosting an open evening this Thursday (November 27) at the Pompey Study Centre in Anson Road (PO4 8TB) from 6pm.

We will also be hosting a trial evening on Friday (November 28) at Miltoncross Academy (PO3 6RB) from 6pm-7pm. The trial will be held inside the sports hall, so please bring appropriate footwear
