WALLACE: TIME TO BOUNCE BACK

2 April 2015

Midfielder prepared for Easter fixtures

A single point collected from the last three games means that Pompey’s play-off chances are now purely mathematical.

The Blues drew with struggling Cheltenham before suffering defeats against AFC Wimbledon and Shrewsbury.

And Jed Wallace is hoping they can put things right over the busy Easter weekend.

First up is a long trip to take on Carlisle on Good Friday, while play-off chasing Plymouth then visit the south coast on Easter Monday.

“You’re always looking to bounce back after successive defeats,” said Wallace. “So now we have to stand up the challenge of two games in four days.

“It’s a long journey up to Carlisle and then we face Plymouth, who are up where we wanted to be this season.

“We haven’t performed well as a team or as individuals lately, certainly not for sustained periods.

“It’s been a frustrating season, but now we have to look forward and concentrate on the challenges ahead.”

Wallace has netted 14 goals from midfield this season, but is still keen to get better.

He said: “I think I’ve matured a lot in my play and I don’t try to be a hero every time I get the ball.

“Of course there are still times when I can frustrate people and they tell me my end product wasn’t good enough.

“But I think they forget that if I was a perfect player then I wouldn’t be in League Two – I’d be earning £50,000 a week in the Premier League!

“I’m still young and learning all the time. Playing every week is part of the learning curve for me and I’m grateful to have that opportunity.”

Wallace is 9/1 with Sky Bet to open the scoring at Carlisle. Bet at www.skybet.com/pompey to increase our chances of claiming £250,000 from the Sky Bet Transfer Fund.
