Jervis Makes Pompey Return

9 January 2014

Striker back at Fratton Park

Jake Jervis has returned to Pompey, subject to international clearance.

The 22-year-old striker was a free agent after leaving Turkish side Elazigspor and has signed a contract until the end of the season.

He scored once in three appearances for the Blues while on loan from Birmingham last season.

Jervis said: “I’m delighted to sign at last. I can’t wait to get out onto the pitch and start playing for Pompey again.

“I really enjoyed my previous loan spell here and had wanted to stay until the end of the season, but Birmingham called me back and it was out of my hands.

“But my previous time here made me want to come back. Hopefully I can score goals and help the team move up the league.

“I know that the crowd are tremendous here and they can help us to get the results we need.”

Blues boss Richie Barker added: “Jake’s been training with us and has done well, so we’re delighted to be able to bring him into our squad.”

Meanwhile, Shaun Cooper has left Pompey following the expiration of his short-term contract.

The versatile 30-year-old had made 11 appearances this season after returning for his third spell with the Blues in September.

Barker said: “It was a tough decision and not one I took lightly, but I needed to freshen things up and his contract had ended.

“Shaun’s a fantastic person to have around a football club and we wish him well for the future.”
