PASSLEY: EXPERIENCE IS GREAT

29 January 2015

Loan signing thrilled to have another crack at senior football

Josh Passley’s first experience of senior football was an extremely positive one.

And the right-back – who has arrived on a one-month loan from Fulham – is hoping for more of the same at Pompey.

The 20-year-old has recently returned from a stint with fellow League Two side Shrewsbury, who he helped keep five clean sheets in seven appearances.

Now Passley wants to play his part in turning around the Blues' form so they can start climbing up the table.

He said: “This is a great club with some great history behind it and hopefully I can help them pick up a few more wins.

“The move all happened very quickly – I only got the call from the gaffer last night to come down here.

“I’ve recently come back from a spell at Shrewsbury and I was looking to go straight back out again to get some more games and more experience of league football.

“I was playing with confidence during my time there and feeling better with every match I had.

“It was a big jump for me because it’s a lot quicker and players are stronger and sharper.

“You’re moving away from home and the football’s at a higher level, but you learn so much from the more experienced professionals.

“We were keeping clean sheets and winning games, so I want to do the same while I’m here.

“At the moment I’m only here for a month, but hopefully I can produce some decent performances and maybe extend that.”

Passley has been brought in to help prevent goals, but also wants to make his mark at the other end of the pitch.

He said: “I’m a defender first and foremost, although I do like to get forward and provide assists whenever I can.”
