LADIES HIT KEYNSHAM FOR SIX

15 September 2014

Fourth successive victory for Blues

Pompey Ladies continued their fine form by hitting Keynsham for six at Cams Alders.

The hosts opened the scoring after just four minutes when Gemma Hillier latched onto Chloe Dark’s lobbed pass, rounded goalkeeper Elena Pasare and slid the ball home.

And Charley Wilson soon doubled the advantage, collecting a through ball and finishing from a tight angle.

The Blues had to wait until after the interval to net again and Molly Clark rifled in the third on 56 minutes.

Lucy Quinn was next to get her name on the scoresheet, reacting quickest after Pasare could only parry Wilson’s shot.

The floodgates were now well and truly open and Shannon Sievwright grabbed her first senior goal by converting Quinn’s cross from close range.

Eilidh Currie then fed Wilson to complete the scoring with her second of the afternoon and Pompey’s sixth.

Assistant Blues boss Katie Poore said: “It was a comfortable game for us and we probably should have scored even more.

“But it’s difficult to criticise too much when you win, score six goals and keep a clean sheet.

“We started really well and the first 25 minutes were very one-sided, but then we took our foot off the gas a bit and let Keynsham back into the game.

“That was put right in the second half, however, and the amount of goals we scored will do a lot for our confidence.

“Next up we face a Charlton side who are capable of causing any side plenty of problems, so we can’t afford to relax.

“We always seem to struggle to beat them, so hopefully we can improve our record on Sunday.”
