Players and staff to show gratitude
Pompey players and coaching staff will return to the pitch for a ‘lap of thanks’ following Saturday’s clash with Plymouth.
Blues boss Andy Awford explained: “It won’t be a lap of honour because we haven’t won anything.
“It’s just a chance for us to come out and thank the fans for the major part they’ve played in keeping Pompey in the Football League.
“However, we’ll only be able to do so if fans stay in their seats and off the pitch. Please do that as we want to show our gratitude for your backing.”
Prior to the game, a number of supporters club Player of the Season trophies will be handed out on the pitch.
Between 2.20pm and 2.40pm, the Norhern Blues, Central Branch, South West, Chichester, Isle of Wight, Stateside and Clan Pompey groups will present their awards.
This will be followed by the announcement of who succeeds Johnny Ertl as The News/Sports Mail Player of the Season.
