McNULTY LOOKING FOR KILLER TOUCH

Striker says Pompey have to see sides off

Marc McNulty wants Pompey to adopt a more ruthless streak.

The Blues were undone by a last-gasp Morecambe equaliser at the Globe Arena during the week.

It leaves them sitting fifth in the League Two table – and six points adrift of the automatic promotion places – ahead of Saturday’s clash with Leyton Orient.

The Londoners are also hoping to leave the fourth tier behind them this season, currently lying two places outside the play-off spots.

And McNulty knows that Pompey have to start seeing sides off when they are in the ascendency.

The on-loan striker said: “We’re coming into an important stage of the season, with fewer and fewer games remaining.

“It becomes more important to pick up three points – especially after the disappointment of Tuesday night.

“We looked pretty comfortable against Morecambe, but that’s football and we have to move on from it.

“We’re not doing enough to kill teams off when we’re ahead, but the gaffer has kept the boys positive.

“Orient have just bought in Kevin Nolan – who was a great player in his day – as their new manager and I’m sure that will have lifted the place.

“They have got a decent squad, but we’ll just concentrate on ourselves and what we need to do.

“We’re playing games against sides around us in the table, so all the lads need to step up and take responsibility.”
