Midfielder's blueprint for Cheltenham success
Marcus Bean wants to provide some festive cheer for Pompey fans following back-to-back defeats.
The Blues travel to Cheltenham on Saturday for their final League Two fixture before Christmas.
But they gifted Accrington three points with some sloppy defending on home turf last week.
And Bean knows that they need to tighten up if there is to be a better outcome at Whaddon Road.
The on-loan midfielder said: “It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster for me here so far and it’s important that we produce for the whole game and not just for parts of it.
“Individual errors cost us last week, but we’ve worked hard on the training ground and we’re feeling confident.
“Gary Waddock’s come in and taken a lot of the training and we’ve enjoyed working with him.
“We have to go out against Cheltenham and get the basics right because from there we have enough quality to win games.
“It’s a good opportunity for us to pick up three points, so first and foremost we need to make it hard for them to score.”
Bean has three matches remaining before his loan deal from Colchester expires and does not yet know if it will be extended.
He said: “We’re just taking it each game as it comes and I want to keep my standards high for however long I’m here.
“But I’m enjoying it at Pompey and if they want me to stay then I’ll be delighted.”
