Pompey’s stint at the summit of the League Two table lasted just three days.

They have dropped to fourth after collecting a single point from home matches against Exeter and Yeovil.

Some bosses might feel the need to change formations or style in order to get back on track.

But Paul Cook is feeling under no pressure to stop his side playing their usual passing game.

The Blues boss said: “Because of things like social media, managers are put under the microscope far too quickly.

“Look at Arsenal – it was the end of the world when they lost to a Greek side in the Champions League and then a few days later they’ve beaten Manchester United.

“The reality of football means that you will have bad days throughout the season.

“Unfortunately, our bad days at the moment are the result of us dominating the ball, but failing to score.

“A lot of the time the manager will look to change things to put that right, but I don’t buy into that.

“I’m not constantly clamouring for change – I believe you should just be better at what you do.

“We put 56 crosses into the box last Saturday and still didn’t win the game – it was frustrating.

“But we move on to the next match and will look to play good football. We won’t stray too far from where we are, but are focused on trying to get that first goal.”

Pompey will look to return to winning ways when they visit 15th-placed Cambridge this weekend.

Cook said: “They had a very good start to the season after assembling a squad in the summer.

“They will, in my opinion, be up there at the end of the campaign without a shadow of a doubt because they’ve got good players and an experienced manager.

“It will certainly be a very difficult game for us on Saturday, but it’s one that we’re looking forward to.”
