ROBINSON SIGNS PERMANENT DEAL

7 January 2015

Defender extends Fratton stay

Paul Robinson has signed an 18-month deal at Pompey.

The 33-year-old central defender spent the first half of the season on loan at Fratton Park from Millwall.

But he was available as a free agent after leaving the Lions – where he made 362 appearances – on Tuesday.

Robinson said: “It’s great to put pen to paper and secure my future here for the next 18 months.

“I was out of contract at Millwall over the summer anyway and every year there are more and more free agents available.

“So it’s nice to not have that uncertainty hanging over me. I can relax and concentrate on giving everything for Pompey.

“I’m looking forward to putting down some roots here and being part of something special with this club as we go from strength to strength.

“We’ve got a good squad of players and have moved into the new training ground, but now we’re looking for consistent results to fire us up the table.”

Blues boss Andy Awford added: “We’re delighted that Paul became a free agent and we were able to offer him a deal to stay with us.

“I’m looking forward to continuing the great relationship that we have built with him over the last few months.”
