CROWDFUNDING TOTAL CONTINUES TO CLIMB

Help PitC raise £100,000

Pompey in the Community (PitC) are already well on their way to raising £100,000 in their crowdfunding campaign.

More than £31,000 was donated just two weeks after the launch of the fund, which will be used to expand the charity into new facilities next to their current home in Anson Road.

PitC has 32 full-time members of staff, who work with 7,000 people across three different counties each week.

They have been continuously growing over the past few years and now find themselves in a situation where demand is outweighing supply.

Just one of the projects that would benefit from the expansion is the hugely popular ‘When the Guns Fall Silent’ scheme, which aims to boost children’s literacy.

As part of this programme, they receive a two-hour workshop and a book to keep about two footballers who went off to fight in the First World War.

James Lang, PitC education manager said: “The move into a new facility will enable us to deliver an even more fully inclusive session that will mean children benefit even more from what our fully qualified staff have to offer.”
