Blues fan sadly passes away

Portsmouth Football Club were saddened to learn about the death of Blues fan Simon Humber, who sadly passed away on Thursday, aged just 45.

The dedicated Blues fan – who lived in Vancouver, but was originally from the Isle of Wight – fought cancer with incredible bravery, determination and openness.

Simon was a popular member of the Pompey Anorak Brigade and the London Blues.

He moved to Canada 11 years ago to take up his dream job as part of EA’s FIFA team, becoming creative director in 2011, but attended games whenever he was back in the UK – and son Lukas was a mascot for the abandoned home match against Wycombe in 2013.

Simon had a great sense of humour and a dry wit, famously enjoying some banter with Matt Le Tissier on the Fantasy Football League television show.

Many of his friends will be at today’s game and everyone at the club would like to send their deepest condolences to Simon’s family, including his young son Lukas, who will always be a member of our Pompey family.

Rest in peace, Simon.
