Shirts bear names of 'Pals'
Pompey are delighted to reveal the club’s home kit for the 2014/15 campaign.
The shirt harks back to the 1914 version and contains the same badge – the very first one ever worn on a Blues shirt.
They went on to suffer heavy losses on the battlefields of the Great War, with more than 1,400 making the ultimate sacrifice.
The Pompey Pals, officially the 14th and 15th battalions of the Hampshire Regiment, recruited heavily at Fratton Park.
“As a city with a rich military history, it was very important that we honour the anniversary of World War One.
Pompey's commercial and marketing manager Micah Hall said: “We are delighted with the kit and are sure the fans will love it.
"We are delighted to also be hosting the Pompey Pals memorial that Bob has pioneered and which will be officially unveiled at noon on Monday.”
“The idea for the shirt came during a conversation with local historian and Pompey fan Bob Beech about how to honour the Pals. The kit is on sale today at the Pompey Store and in also many branches of Sports Direct, with shirts priced at £39.99 for adults and £34.99 for children's sizes.
