MATCH PREVIEW: POMPEY v YORK

24 November 2015

All you need to know about League Two clash

Jackie McNamara has yet to experience the honeymoon period that is often associated with a new manager taking charge.

Since replacing Russ Wilcox in the York dug-out at the start of the month, his side have lost all four of their matches.

That includes league defeats to promotion-chasing Plymouth and Leyton Orient, as well as FA Cup and Johnstone’s Paint Trophy exits to Accrington and Barnsley respectively.

It means that the Minstermen currently sit just one point and one place above the League Two drop zone.

Pompey have also been stuttering in their attempts to stay in the promotion race, dropping to fifth after a last-gasp goal denied them victory at Carlisle on Saturday.

They will be looking for a first win against York since dropping into the fourth tier two years ago.

Both of last season’s fixtures ended all square, including a 1-1 draw – with Matt Tubbs scoring for the Blues – at Fratton Park on the final day.

TEAM NEWS
Paul Jones (knee), Gary Roberts (ankle), Jayden Stockley (ankle), Matt Tubbs (ankle) and Jack Whatmough (knee) are all still sidelined.

But Marc McNulty is available for selection, despite going off with a head injury at Brunton Park.

Marvin McCoy will not feature for the visitors after being placed on the transfer list.

York will also be without the injured quintet of Michael Coulson, Russell Penn, Luke Summerfield, Reece Thompson and Dave Winfield.
