POMPEY APPOINT RICHARDSON AND FOSTER

22 May 2015

Cook adds to coaching staff

Pompey have appointed Leam Richardson as assistant manager.

And Blues boss Paul Cook has also added to his backroom team by bringing in Ian Foster as first team coach.

Richardson said: “I could see that this was a fantastic club when I was on the outside looking in.

“So when the opportunity to join Pompey came along, it wasn’t a decision I had to think about for too long.

“The manager and I have known each other for some time and forged a good working relationship.

“Now I’m looking forward to getting started at a massive club and it’s important we get our work ethic across to the players.

“I don’t want to increase the pressure by making any promises, but hopefully there will be plenty of good times ahead.”

Foster added: “The opportunity to work with Paul and Leam is something that I’m really looking forward to.

“I’ve known Paul for a long time and we share the same philosophy on how the game should be played.

“Pompey are a great club. I’m delighted to be here and very excited to get started in the role.”

Richardson previously served as Cook’s assistant at Chesterfield, while the pair have also worked together at Accrington.

He turned out for Blackburn, Bolton and Blackpool during his playing days before ending his career with Stanley and then having a spell in charge at the Crown Ground.

Former Hereford, Kidderminster and Chester striker Foster has managed Irish sides Galway and Dundalk and most recently worked as first team coach and development coach at Coventry.
