AWFORD & WALLACE UP FOR FEBRUARY AWARDS

3 March 2015

Boss and midfielder both shortlisted

Pompey’s fine February form has seen Andy Awford nominated for the Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month award.

Meanwhile, Jed Wallace has been shortlisted for the Player of the Month prize.

The Blues claimed 14 points from a possible 18 last month, keeping four clean sheets in the process.

They enjoyed a resounding 6-2 triumph at Cambridge, while also beating Hartlepool (1-0), Exeter (1-0) and Tranmere (3-2) at Fratton Park.

Awford is up against Bury’s David Flitcroft, Plymouth’s John Sheridan and Northampton’s Chris Wilder for the manager award.

Wallace netted twice in February – including the late winner against Exeter – and provided a number of assists.

Also nominated for the player award are Plymouth’s Lewis Alessandra, Dagenham & Redbridge’s Jamie Cureton and Burton’s Phil Edwards.

The winner of both categories will be announced on Friday.

The Manager of the Month judging panel includes former Ipswich boss George Burley, Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman, Football League chief operating officer Andy Williamson, League Managers’ Association director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet football trading manager Paul Lowery.

Goodman, Dixon and Lowery will also decide who wins Player of the Month, along with Football League head of communications John Nagle.
