Pompey to host Spanish side in final friendly
Pompey will host Rayo Vallecano in their final pre-season friendly before the start of the 2013/14 campaign.
The Spanish top-flight side will visit Fratton Park on Sunday, July 28 (kick-off 3pm).
Blues boss Guy Whittingham said: “All the Football League clubs start on the same day, so there’s a lot of demand for an attractive final friendly.
“To get a team from La Liga who finished eighth last season shows that we’ve done well.
“Everyone enjoys the way Spanish sides play football and I’m sure they’ll provide a good test for our players.”
Madrid-based Vallecano finished eighth in the league last term, but missed out on a place in the Europa League after failing to obtain a UEFA license.
