RESULTS OF FAN SURVEY

12 May 2014

See what fellow supporters had to say about Pompey

Portsmouth Football Club have published the initial results of their first comprehensive survey of fans’ views – and are pleased with the both the response rate and the results.

More than 4,000 supporters responded to the survey, which was conducted in late February and early March.

The club have worked with volunteers from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), which is based at Titchfield, to analyse the data as part of the organisation’s corporate social responsibility agenda.

Pompey PR consultant Colin Farmery, who managed the project, said: “We were amazed at not only the number of fans who responded, but also the quality of the comments they gave us.

“We have already used some of the raw results to inform our decision-making for next season, around season ticket prices for example, and there is much more still to mine.

“It was also pleasing to see that fans, in general, have been appreciative of the efforts we have made this season in a whole range of areas and they have also given us some good pointers about how things can be improved still further.

“This report is a summary of the key questions. While we recognise we won’t please all of the people all of the time, the report gives a great snapshot of how fans think on a range of issues.

“Both the sample size and the fact the responses have been validated by an independent third party gives this report real credibility.

“Using the ONS to support this initiative has been an example of good practice and we are really grateful for their support.”

Colin added that there was still more work to be done around the responses.

He said: “We will be using both the results and the comments internally over the summer to both improve our service to fans and address some of the contentious issues which have clearly polarised opinion.

“This is an exercise we will be repeating next season, as we now have some great benchmarks to judge our progress.”
