ROBINSON: A POSITIVE PERFORMANCE

4 October 2014

Defender says Blues can be pleased with their efforts at York

The defender helped the Blues keep a second successive clean sheet with a 0-0 draw against York.

Paul Robinson believes Pompey can take plenty of positives from picking up a point at Bootham Crescent.

And Robinson feels that would have been unfair on a Pompey side who created opportunities of their own.

But they would have left with nothing if Ryan Brunt had found the target from close range in stoppage-time.

He said: “I think that a draw on the road can always be viewed as a good point gained.

“The performance perhaps warranted all three so we’re a bit disappointed, but then they missed a good chance right at the end.

“We’d played really well for so long, so that would have been a real sickener. I felt we deserved that bit of luck.

“York is a tough place to come to despite their league position, so I think we can take some credit from the performance.

“We’ll take the result and the clean sheet and hopefully build on it against Mansfield in our next league game.

“We’re just waiting for the proverbial one off the backside at the other end to get the goals flowing again.

“I’m sure it’s just a case of continuing to work hard on the training ground for the wins to come.”

“If we weren’t creating chances then everyone would be a bit worried, but that’s not the case and we’re playing some really good stuff. He said: “We’d like to thank the fans because it’s a long old way from Portsmouth, but they turned up in large numbers and made a lot of noise."

Pompey were backed by 984 supporters at York and Robinson appreciated their efforts.
