Benjani rejoined Pompey on a one-year deal in August 2011.

The Zimbabwean striker originally joined the Blues in January 2006, staying at Fratton Park for two years before signing for Manchester City.

He scored 19 goals in 77 appearances during his first spell on the south coast and was a firm favourite with the Fratton faithful.

Benjani’s first Blues goal came at Wigan in April 2006 – and it was an important one as Pompey won 2-1 to preserve their Premier League status.

And in the 2007/08 season he netted two top-flight hat-tricks – the second in the record-breaking 7-4 victory over Reading.

Benjani spent the 2010/11 season at Blackburn, scoring three goals in 21 appearances.
