The transfer window has closed and the focus can now shift back to football.
Pompey will look to put a disappointing January behind them and start February by seeing off Doncaster at Fratton Park on Saturday.
The visitors are currently sitting 14th in the table, five places – and the same number of points – behind the Blues.
They were beaten 3-1 at home by Bristol Rovers last week, although it was their first League One loss since early in December.
Like Pompey, however, Rovers are still searching for their first victory of 2018, having drawn four games in succession at the start of January.
Darren Ferguson’s side were promoted last term, but fans might still be smarting at the way they let the title slip from their grasp.
Failure to win any of the final five matches allowed the Blues to sneak up on the rails and snatch the silverware.
Doncaster gained some revenge back in October, though, netting twice in the first five minutes to secure the points at Keepmoat Stadium.
TEAM NEWS
Pompey could hand debuts to Stephen Henderson and Anton Walkes following their loan arrivals from Nottingham Forest and Tottenham respectively.
Adam May serves a one-match ban, while Stuart O’Keefe (groin) and Danny Rose (leg) are both injured.
Brandon Haunstrup and Jack Whatmough have returned to training, but are not yet ready for selection.
Doncaster signed defenders Tom Anderson and Andy Boyle on deadline day, although Andy Butler (knee), Mathieu Baudry (hamstring) and Joe Wright (ribs) are all out.
