Pompey are looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season when they host Plymouth on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
And fans will likely be expecting a close contest, with the sides currently sitting next to each other in the League One standings.
The hosts are in second spot – with only goal difference keeping them off the summit – while their opponents are two points behind.
Contests between the clubs have often been tight affairs in recent years and seven of the past 10 have finished all square.
That includes last season’s Fratton clash, with Sean Raggett leaving it late to rescue a point for Danny Cowley’s men.
The Pilgrims suffered a disappointing conclusion to that 2021/22 campaign after seemingly being on course for a play-off spot.
A 5-0 thrashing handed out by MK Dons on home soil saw them overtaken by Wycombe on the finishing line.
Steven Schumacher’s side seem to have shaken off that frustration, however, and head to Hampshire on the back of four successive league wins.
But they have already lost twice on the road, including a heavy 5-1 reverse at Charlton last month.
TEAM NEWS
Pompey are waiting to discover whether Michael Jacobs (groin) and Joe Rafferty (stomach) are fit enough to feature.
Definitely still missing for the home side on Saturday are Jayden Reid (hamstring) and Louis Thompson (leg).
Former Blues defender James Bolton (foot) is out for Argyle, while Conor Grant (groin) and Mickel Miller (thigh) are also absent.
